Background
Realitus is (for the moment) a division of Creative Thing a company dedicated to design for marketing across all media, with a particular penchant for applying the principles of product and systems design in the practice of design for marketing.
Starting in 2006, Creative Thing realised the potential that Wordpress offered. Emerging from the world of blogging, Wordpress provided a massive advantage to organisations of all shapes and sizes. Creative Thing have since developed and designed Wordpress strategies and sites for large and small organisations across the world.
Following the Wordcamp UK conference in July 2008, it became apparent that Creative Thing’s WordPress capabilities, experience and development had a momentum and demand of its own. Indeed it had moved beyond the remit of Creative Thing and required a presence of its own. This is Realitus.
People
Realitus is run by David Yates. David is a 46 year old designer who has demonstrated a strange knack for having been in the right place at the right time for the last twenty five years. This career has seen him market and design the core clothing product sets for both Rohan and Karrimor. He moved into creative design and won awards for advertising design with Ricoh Cameras, Mamiya, HiTec Sports and Sony.
After postgraduate study he became the global intranet project manager at BP and delivered a complete redesign of the global system, developing and launching engineering and support tools on the platform globally as well as managing the full integration of dual systems across 85,000 users during the Mobil Oil takeover.
Becoming Head of Design at Marlborough Stirling plc, he worked on web interfaces for Egg, Clerical Medical, Sony, Bank of Scotland and others.
He first employed his now close friend and collaborator Simon Wheatley at Marlborough Stirling. Simon is now a feted and award winning WordPress developer.
He set up Creative Thing in 2003 and launched Realitus today (20 July 2008).
Locations
Realitus share Creative Thing’s wonderful riverside studio in Upton Upon Severn. You will all have seen it in 2007 when it became Upton Under Severn. The backdrop to the news reports for flood central UK was the Realitus studio.
It suits us. We like the countryside and so do our children – more space and less drugs. Our location is right on the motorway, being an easy car drive from Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff and a doddle to London on the train. We would like to register how funny we find the London congestion charge.

Objectives
To be be at the forefront of WordPress web development globally.
We were one of the first organisations to realise the potential of WordPress. We were one of the first to deliver a non blog deployment of Wordpress in the form of the original ACID News Desk and one of the first to create a proposition based on this.
We believe that WordPress is the most significant development on the web since Google. We aim to be the best provider of everything from ecommerce to community platforms through Wordpress. We know we will do this collaboratively, because that is the strength and the ethos of WordPress. But we intend to be right at the centre of the shakeup as it happens, working with the best people and delivering the best products.
